We are pleased to announce that Heidi Seifert Douglas has joined the School of Engineering in the capacity of Director of Engineering Alumni Relations.

“I’m very excited to support the School of Engineering’s efforts to expand and enrich its relations with alumni. The UConn engineering community represents a wide range of accomplished men and women – from top level executives at large manufacturing and defense companies to small business innovators, IP attorneys and physicians. We need to better engage our deep pool of talented alumni and connect them with our exciting programs and ambitious plans for the school, our students and faculty, in order to more fully realize our educational, research and business missions,” she said.

As a member of the Engineering Advisory Board and Chair of the Capital Campaign Committee, Heidi is an entrepreneur who has generously shared her expertise and vision with the School of Engineering for years.

Dean of Engineering Mun Y. Choi noted that Heidi has contributed enormously to the School already through her experience, strategic business and technical acumen, and enthusiasm.

A dynamic and multi-faceted entrepreneur, Heidi is founder and managing partner of Nuventus LLC, serving small to mid-size high tech and life sciences companies. She is also a Director at Decision Options, LLC; co-founder of HDH Technologies, LLC; Corporate Secretary for Mystic Technology Partners Inc.; and a co-founder, former President and CEO of MysticMD Inc.

Earlier in her career, she was a partner in Deloitte Consulting’s High Technology practice, where she managed partnerships with some of firm’s largest Fortune 100 companies, leading global teams in excess of 200 members and annual revenues of more than $10 million.  Earlier in her career, Heidi held managerial positions at Pfizer Inc. and Syntex (USA) Inc. (now Roche Bioscience).

Heidi is a recognized leader who has received numerous awards, including the 2011 Distinguished Engineering Service Award from UConn, the Connecticut Technology Council’s 2010 Women of Innovation Award for Entrepreneurial Innovation and Leadership, and the University of New Haven’s (UNH) 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award. She is a member of the Connecticut-based Angel Investor Forum and the Community Foundation of Southeastern Connecticut Women and Girls Fund Grant Committee. She served as a Trustee of the University of New Haven’s Board of Governors (2003-10).

Heidi and her husband, UConn engineering alumnus Joel Douglas (’77), endowed the Joel S. and Heidi S. Douglas Engineering Scholarship at UConn in 2007.

Heidi earned her B.S. in Biological Science from UConn in 1977, her M.S. in Computer & Information Science at the University of New Haven, and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Hartford.
